The Effects of Mindfulness-Based Intervention on Burden and Health-Related Quality of Life in Caregiver of Parkinson's Disease Patient

Abstract

|
|
Objective : The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of Mindfulness based intervention to caregiver of patient with Parkinson's disease.
Methods : From December 2020 to April 2021, it was conducted on 15 caregiver of patient with Parkinson's disease. Mindfulness-based intervention includes understanding mindfulness and training for mindfulness, and intervention was conducted man-to-man, twice a week for 8 weeks, 50 minutes per time, and a re-evaluation was conducted eight weeks after the intervention was conducted.
The analysis was analyzed using Wilcoxon signed rank test and descriptive statistics, and SPSS Version 25.0 was used as a statistical program.
Results : There was a statistically significant difference in the improved mental health index among the health-related quality of life and the reduced burden of participants after mindfulness-based intervention for a total of 15 participants. However, there was no statistically significant difference in the physical health index among health-related quality of life.
Conclusion : Through this study, the effect of mindfulness-based intervention on the caregiver of patients with Parkinson's disease was confirmed, but further studies involving control groups are expected to be needed.
